They call it a "rouge" wave. Would that be red tide?

It looks like the Capt got enough warning to turn into the waves or just got lucky. Those waves broadside might have dumped her!

Not the first time these windows were blow out by a wave. I recall it happend a few years ago on a Boston Bermuda run. At least nobody was killed that time.

From this report and picture, it appears that the waves went through the front of the Majesty into Royal Fireworks:

It's interesting to see that Loius didn't paint the Majesty's signature blue decks a different color.....

| I always ASSumed that they were tempered safety glass, and were certified to handle silly little things like wave strikes. Guess I was wrong.....

Two years ago when the seas were very rough and we had an oceanview cabin, an officer and two employees showed up at our doo to install a big thick metal plate in our window.
Guess they were afraid the window might shatter, we were none to brave
